This week I interviewed Brian Cade, owner of CadeFit, a self-development center that integrates personal training and success coaching. Here are the main takeaways from this week’s podcast.
Stop comparing yourself to others
Do some thinking and discover the balance between being happy with what you have and being driven towards wanting more. It’s one thing to be motivated by someone ahead of you, but it’s another to feel like you’re not enough because you don’t have what someone else has.
You will never get to a level where you’ll feel satisfied if you are dependent on being better than the people around you.
Develop a good idea of what you want for yourself and aim for it without comparing yourself to others. Most importantly, be thankful for any progress that you do achieve.
You don’t have to go to the gym to stay healthy
People think of health as something that starts and ends at the gym. That couldn’t be further from the truth.
Incorporating 5 minute exercises throughout the day will add up to a full workout for the day. Squats, pull-ups, and push-ups will get you a long way compared to staying seated all day.
It’s very important to stay hydrated. Your brain and body will not function correctly without water. Drink 2/3s of your body weight in ounces.
Get more sleep every day, at least 7-8 hours. This will help your brain stay focused and alert the next morning and will also help your body recover from workouts.
Your goals and dreams will evolve
What you think you want to do with your life will change next year, next month, or even next week. You don’t have to figure everything out today. You will use your life experiences to slowly mold your goals into something that fits you – it’s a gradual process.
Be open to new experiences and use that experience to help you discover who you are and what you want.
